Innovative Environmental Technology Research Opportunities

EM Federal Foundation ("EM Federal") in partnership with EPA’s Technology Innovation Office and the International Technology Corporation ("IT") is currently seeking HBCU/MI faculty/student researchers for participation in an Environmental Technology Transfer (ETT) Initiative. ETT focuses on providing opportunities for researchers in the areas of exploration, development, and application of promising remediation technologies, particularly those that have potential applications at federal facilities.

Examples of a few emerging and innovative technologies include; Natural Attenuation Technology, Hydrogen Release Compound Technology, Phytoremediation, Accelerated Anaerobic Biodegradation Technology, Chemical Oxidation/Reduction Technology, etc.

Objectives of the Environmental Technology Transfer (ETT) Initiative Involves:

Interested faculty are invited to develop proposals which address the aforementioned objectives. The funded grant award will be designated for the support of research efforts during the academic year, as well as, during summer months contingent upon continued support from EPA. Submitted proposals should be no longer than four pages in length and include the following:

Preference will be given to proposals keeping with the ETT priorities. The deadline for submission is March 1, 2001. Notification of awards will be forthcoming after the ETT committee review. The expected level of support ranges from 2 to 3 projects per institution at approximately $10,000 each for direct costs only (up to $30,000 per institution) inclusive of faculty, graduate and undergraduate support, equipment acquisition and supplies. Subsequent contract periods should range from April 1, 2001 to September 30, 2001. Submitted proposals should secure the appropriate signatures.
